Amíg a nyugati horoszkópnak tizenkét csillagjege van, addig Kínai kultúra ezt tizenkét állat köré alakította. Minden ember a születési éve alapján egy állattal azonosítja magát. Következő év a Sárkány Éve lesz, amelyik az első éve a kínai naptárnak, és egyben egy kiemelt esemény is. Az AIGA China és a PoloArts közös szervezésben Nemzetközi Design Versenyt hirdet: "2012 Year of the Dragon" címmel. A megmérettetés célja Kína és a világ többi része közötti kommunikáció és interakció fejlesztése bátor, kreatív designerek segítségével, a Kínai sárkány motívumának felhasználásával.

Competition
While the West has a zodiac of twelve constellations, China’s zodiac is composed of twelve animals. Every person identifies with an animal based on their birth year. Next year is the Year of the Dragon which is the first year of the Chinese zodiac and an important year of the zodiac cycle. According to Chinese tradition, China is the dragon’s homeland and Chinese people consider themselves decedents of the dragon.
In anticipation of the auspicious year, AIGA China has partnered with PoloArts to support the first annual China International Design Competition: 2012 Year of the Dragon. The competition aims to promote communication, exchange and interaction between China and the rest of the world by encouraging designers to create innovative work based around the theme of the Chinese dragon.
Entries will be accepted in the areas of
• Graphic Design
• Digital and Multi-Media Design
• Installation Design
• Product Design
Entries must be original, and cannot be previously published. There is no limit to the quantity of works that can be entered.

Eligibility
Entries are accepted from designers from across the globe regardless of age, rank, professional status, or nationality. All designers are encouraged to apply.
Prize
A panel of judges comprised of well-respected international designers and Chinese celebrities will award significant cash prizes. One hundred winning works will be exhibited at Beijing’s Capital Museum in January 2012.
The total value of the awards: RMB 360,000 (approx USD 59,000).
